El norte de la Isla Grande de Tierra del Fuego presenta un accidente geográfico muy particular que le da un rasgo único a la Costa Atlántica de este sector del país: la bahía San Sebastián. Como es fácil de imaginar, la misma se fue inundando a medida que el mar fue subiendo su nivel, pero, ¿qué hubo allí anteriormente? ¿cómo fue que obtuvo esa forma semicircular tan definida? Vamos a conocer un poco de su historia geológica…

Caution! Glaciers working. The origin of San Sebastián and its glacial geomorphology
The north of the island of Tierra del Fuego presents a very particular geographic accident that gives us a unique trait along the Atlantic coast of the eastern sector of the country: The San Sebastián Bay. As it is easy to imagine, it was flooded as the sea level rose, but what happened there before? How did it come to have its defined semicircular shape? We are going to learn a little about its geologic history…
